Oct 16th, Voting for AT3 has begun! Please check it out and remember..the title is HAUNTED. :-)

The American Title contest is put on by Romantic Times magazine and Dorchester Publishing.

The format is not unlike American Idol…but with authors. Which is good because you do not want to hear me sing.

Here’s how it works: Beginning in October, Romantic Times will post portions of the finalists' books such as first line, love scene, dialogue, etc. People go to the RT website, read the entries, and while I’d like to say ‘vote for your favorite’ what I am thinking is…VOTE FOR ME.

So, there you have it. What’s on paper and what’s in my head.

Then, after the voting is done, finalists will be eliminated until there’s only one winner. The winner is announced in April at the Romantic Times Booklovers Convention. And what does the winner receive, you might ask… a publishing contract with Dorchester!

It’s crazy. It’s fun. And alternately makes me giddy and nauseous.I’ll post updates on both my website and blog as they happen so come by and watch the carnage/fun!

There will never be enough space to properly thank all of the people who made a story and author what they are. So here's my public acknowledgement to some (not all) of the most important people in my life and why they are important.

Scott, Robin and Kenzie: Your love and patience are unmatched. Without you, I never could have done this. Thanks for not making me get a "real" job, Hon. Girls, thanks for letting mommy take over the computer and keeping yourselves occupied while I wrote my stories. You three are the best things about my life.

Mom and Dad: Other than the obvious part about having me in the first place, thanks for letting me be me. You only blanched a little when I said I wanted to go to school in North Dakota and then Alaska. My career choices were not going to make me rich, or even financially secure all of the time, but I had the undying love and support from you to keep my dreams alive. You gave me a solid base to jump from, and I always knew that if things got real bad you would be there to lend a hand and help me try again.

My brothers and sister: Your enthusiasm infected me every time I talked about wanting to be a writer. None of you did so much as raise a brow of incredulity, though I had seen them go up on other occasions. Thanks, you guys!

Sharron, my best friend, crit partner and "sister": If you can do it….Okay, now I know just how hard this is, so I take that back :. You are one of the most talented, fun and encouraging people I know. Thank you for not telling me my writing sucked, even when it did. Thank you for seeing a spark of potential in it and answering my stupid questions as you struggled to get your own career up and running. Even when you're going nuts, you always have time for me. You're the best.
